Neuroscience and Behavior's Brain Ambassadors engaging with community at Science Alive at SJCPL

On Saturday, February 10, 2024, Saint Joseph County Public Library celebrated their 32nd Annual Science Alive program at the Main Library in downtown South Bend. Science related organizations offered activities and stage shows for the event. A team of Brain Ambassadors from the Neuroscience and Behavior Program at Notre Dame demonstrated the importance of a healthy brain through hands-on activities for all ages.

Brain Ambassadors learn student development, neuroscience content, hands-on activity design, and logistic support for the community engagement platform. Each year they host a Brain Ambassador Fair which is free to all attendees. This year’s event will be Saturday, April 6th from 11 am to 2 pm at the Howard Park Event Center in downtown South Bend. Last year’s event welcomed 200 community members  who enjoyed interactive and hands-on activities. The Brain Ambassador program also allows community organizations to request visits to bring hands-on neuroscience learning to the community.

The goal of the Brain Ambassadors is to increase understanding of how our brains work, find new ways to approach daily challenges, and take better care of ourselves and each other along the way. They also want to remind everyone that learning about science and themselves can and should be fun.
